How I found Sculpt
I have always enjoyed working out and being active. As a child, I was involved in gymnastics and then I moved onto dance. Both of these made sure that I was being active at least 3-4 times a week. My senior year of high school, I quit dance. Looking for something new to do I started Crossfit. Although Crossfit is a great workout with great results, I always felt like it was not for me. I struggled to lift heavy weights and I always felt so tired after the workout.
I tried various other forms of working out such as Kosama, kickboxing and boot camp classes, but it wasn’t until I tried Yoga Sculpt at Powerlife Yoga that I felt at ease with my workouts, energized and happy with the results that I was seeing.
The thing about sculpt is that it is more than just a workout for me. It is a place where I can go to relieve the stress of being a college student. With that stress comes relationships, school, work and everything else. At sculpt I am often told to “forget about all the bad stuff” and to focus on these 45-minutes because I will never get them again.
I workout at Powerlife in Des Moines, Ia. They have studios all over the metro area, as well as in Kansas City. Yoga Sculpt adds weights to a yoga sequence as you squat, lung and burn out your whole body. Another great thing about sculpt is that different every time I go. They have various instructors who all teach a little bit differently so I never feel bored when with the workouts.
Another aspect I really enjoy is that the room is heated to 90-92 degrees, which is hot but also makes me sweat out all of the toxins in my body whether they are from a weekend out or eating that piece of pizza.
Not only do I enjoy sculpt, but I also love barre. Barre leaves me feeling toned and I enjoy the aspect of ballet mixed in considering I did dance for a large part of my life. Although barre is not as intense as sculpt is, I enjoy it on days when I am tired and sluggish and maybe feeling like I don’t want to workout.
Both barre and sculpt have given me the tools to feel confident and love and my body the way it is.
